End Citizens United and Let America Vote Endorse Kara Eastman in NE-02

Eastman is rejecting corporate PAC money and protecting Nebraskans’ right to vote

End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) today endorsed Kara Eastman in Nebraska’s Second Congressional District. Eastman, who has dedicated her career to leading nonprofit organizations and serving her community, is building a grassroots campaign by rejecting corporate PAC money.

“As a social worker and non-profit executive, Kara Eastman has repeatedly brought her community together to get tangible results,” said ECU and LAV President Tiffany Muller. “In her campaign for Congress, Kara is rejecting corporate PAC money so Nebraska families can always count on her to fight for them. We’re proud to endorse Kara Eastman, and we look forward to helping her win.”

“The most critical steps we can take to restore our democracy are overturning Citizens United and getting Big Money out of politics,” said Kara Eastman. “The corruption that comes along with the outsized influence of dark money is the primary barrier to making real progress on issues impacting Nebraskans every day, from combating climate change to health care reform, and so on. I’m proud to have End Citizens United and Let America Vote’s endorsement, and I’m excited to fight alongside them to clean up Washington and protect the right to vote.”

bipartisan poll shows that a majority of voters see corruption in the political system as the most serious problem facing the country, especially among independents. The poll also finds that unlimited, undisclosed political contributions and the influence of big money in politics are seen as major problems.

ECU and LAV recently merged to combat the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: Big Money and voter suppression. ECU is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington so that the government works for all Americans. LAV is building a grassroots effort to fight back against voter suppression and protect every American’s right to vote.

ECU and LAV will work to end our rigged political system by electing reform champions, passing meaningful legislative reforms, and elevating these issues in the national conversation. ECU has more than four million members nationwide, including 5,700 in Nebraska’s Second Congressional District, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14. In 2018, over 1,000 LAV grassroots volunteers knocked on over 340,000 doors, made 112,000 calls, and sent 341,000 texts to help elect 100 pro-democracy leaders.
